Rekeying changes the internal pins of a lock so it works with a new key. Your existing hardware stays on the door, and every old key stops working.
It's one of the most practical security steps after buying a home, ending a lease, or losing track of who has a key.
Common problems we help with
- Just moved into a new home or apartment
- A roommate, tenant or employee moved out
- Lost keys with your address nearby
- Too many keys for different doors
How Ben's Locksmith can help
We'll rekey the cylinders you choose and can key them alike, so one key works on multiple doors. If a lock is worn out or damaged, we'll let you know that replacement may be the better choice.
Lock Rekeying FAQs
Is rekeying cheaper than replacing locks?
Generally, yes, because you're keeping your existing hardware and paying mainly for the service and new pins.
Can every lock be rekeyed?
Most standard pin-tumbler locks can. Some very old, damaged or specialty locks can't, and replacement may be needed.
